Human Appeal for Development Organization Conducts Emergency Nutrition and Health Needs Assessment in Wonduruba Payam.
Wonduruba Payam, Central Equatoria State – 2024 – Human Appeal for Development Organization (HADO) has successfully conducted an Emergency Nutrition and Health Needs Assessment in Wonduruba Payam to evaluate the immediate health and nutrition situation of vulnerable communities and inform timely humanitarian response. The rapid assessment was undertaken in response to growing concerns over food insecurity, limited access to healthcare services, and rising cases of malnutrition among children and pregnant and lactating women. HADO deployed a multidisciplinary team of health and nutrition professionals to collect field data, engage community leaders, and consult with local health facilities to determine priority gaps and urgent needs. The assessment focused on key indicators including acute malnutrition prevalence, maternal and child health conditions, access to essential health services, availability of medical supplies, water and sanitation conditions, and community coping mechanisms. Preliminary findings indicate critical gaps in nutrition services, shortages of essential medicines, and limited access to safe water and hygiene facilities. Speaking on the initiative, HADO leadership emphasized the urgency of coordinated humanitarian action. “Timely evidence is critical for effective response. This assessment enables us and our partners to design targeted interventions that save lives and strengthen community resilience,” the organization stated. Community representatives in Wonduruba Payam welcomed the initiative, noting that the findings will help mobilize resources and improve service delivery in underserved areas. HADO is currently compiling a comprehensive assessment report to share with humanitarian partners, local authorities, and donors to facilitate coordinated emergency interventions. The organization remains committed to supporting vulnerable populations through evidence-based programming, rapid response mechanisms, and strengthened collaboration with stakeholders to address health and nutrition challenges across South Sudan.
