Gudele 2, Juba County, Central Equatoria State, South Sudan – 2024 — Human Appeal Development Organization (HADO) successfully conducted a capacity-building training for community hygiene promoters in Gudele 2, reinforcing local efforts to improve sanitation and prevent disease outbreaks.
The training, held in 2024 in Gudele 2, Juba County, Central Equatoria State, South Sudan, equipped selected community members with practical skills in hygiene promotion, safe water handling, sanitation practices, waste management, and community awareness strategies.
Participants were trained on key public health topics including handwashing techniques, prevention of waterborne diseases, household water treatment methods, and effective community engagement approaches. The initiative aims to empower local promoters to serve as frontline advocates for improved hygiene behaviors within their communities.
Through interactive sessions, demonstrations, and group discussions, trainees gained knowledge on conducting door-to-door awareness campaigns, organizing community dialogues, and identifying hygiene-related risks. The training also emphasized community ownership and sustainability of WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) interventions.
Speaking during the event, a HADO representative reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to strengthening community resilience through preventive health measures. “Empowering local hygiene promoters ensures that health awareness remains continuous and community-driven,” the representative stated.
Community leaders welcomed the initiative, noting that strengthened hygiene promotion efforts are critical in reducing preventable diseases and improving overall well-being.
